Over three years in, and I’ve only missed a few days back in 2013, when I suffered through a 3 day trip to Cuba.
I think that right now, on October 28th, 2015, we are seeing what I think counts as maybe the third time since launch that the Guild Wars 2 servers have been offline. There must have been a mother of bugs in the most recent patch, because everything turned to a laggy mess. After a couple of attempts to restore sanity, the team posted notifications of a 30 minute maintenance window. So, here I am, making use of my itchy fingers!
Heart of Thorns, the first official expansion, has been out since Friday. I’ve had a lot of fun with the new content – with most of my problems coming from trying to figure out what to do next. There is so much. Well, that’s what it feels like right now. Give it a couple of months and I’ll be itching for more.
The Entitled Masses
Unfortunately, this itching is because a vocal contingent of “Give me wars” players screamed bloody murder over the Elite Specializations system requiring 400 hero points to unlock each spec. I have world completion on all classes, so for me, it didn’t seem like a big deal. But, apparently that’s just me.. after the weekend of screaming, a statement was issued last night and the requirement was reduced to 150 each. In other words, what I was looking forward to as a great adventure to unlock them – turned into an evening of burning through six Heart of Thorns hero point challenges on each character. Boo.
A Guild Hall
Yesterday, I joined the Sanctum of Rall Community (SORC) guild on their quest to attain the Gilded Hollows (is that right?) guild hall. After failing miserably, three times, with a massive group of people, the guild leader took only two small groups in. This scaled everything way down, and they were able to easily claim the hall. At the the very end, we all popped into the instance and burned down the final boss. Interesting.
Now, the nice part is that I can port any of my toons right into the middle of the jungle! I can hand out invites if you want to use it to do the same for yourself.
In spite of my bitterness over the Elite Spec nerf, I decided to take advantage of an.. exploit? to level up my Pact Commander Mastery more quickly. How? Well, right now, there is a mob farm in the Citadel of Flame, Explorable Path #1, at the door where four people need to coordinate while the fifth unlocks the final door to the boss. Each of the four braziers spawn 3 Charr at a time, each time someone gets near them. The group members run out, touch the braziers, then come back to the center and kill. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. XP Boosters every way possible. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to get the 4 levels to max out the track.
What’s the reward? No more need to press Autoloot or Interact to pick up mob loot! Oh, my fingers will be so happy for me.
I think we need to get a Hot Republic guild hall. We need to start by doing a few guild missions to gain favour, then plan out an assault time. Let me know if you want to be a part of it.
See you in game!
